If you’ve landed on this page, I guess you’re looking for a commercial photographer! Thank you for considering me.
I know how important high quality images are to your business! Maybe you need professional photos for your website, brochure or social media pages. Whether it’s architectural photography, interiors, headshots of your staff, landscapes of your local area, or something else, I’ll be delighted to get involved!
I’ll work with you in order to understand your business and how best to represent it with high quality photography. I’m very creative and can quickly develop ideas. Of course, I’m also flexible and am happy to follow a more prescriptive approach if required.
I’m based on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands. So, I’m ideally placed to serve businesses in the Inverness area. However, I love travelling and am happy to work further afield, throughout Scotland.
I conduct myself professionally, am very reliable and am fully insured. I also have a valid CSCS card. This means that I’m sufficiently clued up on Health and Safety to work on construction sites.

Commercial Photography Projects
Here are a few case studies from my commercial photography portfolio and the stories behind the images!
Newhall Mains is an eighteenth century estate building. It’s located on the north side of the Black Isle (a few miles along the road from my house!). Without compromising the character of the building, Newhall Mains has been beautifully restored over the last couple of years. The four cottages and coach house offer luxurious, world-class accommodation in private and peaceful surroundings. The other side of the building is undergoing renovation. Before long, it’ll be a stunning venue for weddings, events and private hire. Euan Ramsay commissioned me to undertake architectural photography for the Newhall Mains website and social media pages. I’m looking forward to capturing interior shots of the venue space once the building work has been completed.
Concrete Butterflies Media
Back in 2017, I bumped into writer and broadcaster Malcolm Fane whilst photographing a wedding on the Isle of Skye. We got talking, exchanged business cards, and I returned to Skye a few weeks later. The remit was to undertake some landscape and portrait photography to promote Malcolm’s business, Concrete Butterflies Media. This image was selected for the website homepage, with the company tag line superimposed on it.
The SSPCA (the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) commissioned me to photograph two dogs in their care. Sadly the previous owner mistreated the dogs, Oscar and Shadow. Thankfully the SSPCA staff at the charity’s Inverness centre lovingly restored them to full health. This was one of my favourite images from the photo shoot. The staff member in the background threw a chew toy over my head. I grabbed a few shots then dived out of the way!
Assynt House is a Georgian mansion. It boasts seven en suite bedrooms, a beautifully appointed drawing room, study, sitting room, TV lounge, a well-equipped kitchen and six acres of garden. After photographing a wedding at Assynt House, the proprietors, Elizabeth and Graham Waugh, invited me back to photograph the interior of this magnificent five-star exclusive use venue near Evanton in the Scottish Highlands. It was a pleasure to spend a day in these luxurious and elegant surroundings!
The Big Issue
Another memorable commission was from The Big Issue, to promote Allan Harper’s pitch at the Tesco superstore in Dingwall. I broke the ice with Allan and photographed some portraits, before capturing a lot of candid shots of Allan interacting with the store staff and customers. The ‘My Pitch’ section of the magazine in summer 2018 included a feature on Allan and a selection of the images. I do most of my food shopping at this supermarket and always think fondly of this photo shoot each time I step through the doors!
Cameron Painters & Decorators
I recently commissioned Dingwall-based Cameron Painters & Decorators to paint the exterior of my house on the Black Isle. They then checked out my photography and commissioned me to capture a few of their projects for their new website! The first of these was the art deco Inverness High School, in the heart of the Highland ‘capital’. Cameron Painters & Decorators have done a wonderful job of painting the interior and exterior of the school, as part of the ongoing multi-million pound refurbishment. I spent an afternoon at the school, photographing many of the classrooms, corridors and the staff room, pictured here. This brought back many memories of my own school days, growing up in Perth!
Richard Lockett at Knockbain Farm commissioned me to capture a portfolio of portrait and landscape images for the family business. Knockbain Farm, located in the hills above Dingwall, is a fantastic example of how agriculture and conservation can go hand-in-hand. Richard and his family have restored wetlands, planted hedges, expanded native woodland and established a community wind turbine, whilst producing high quality food. They welcome visitors to take advantage of their network of paths and tracks, and also provide bed and breakfast accommodation. Spending a day at Knockbain, photographing all the different habitats and landscapes in the beautiful autumnal sunshine, was an absolute delight!
St Philips Care
Last but not least, St Philips Care recently commissioned me to undertake photography at Catalina House, their residential care home in Alness. This was a really varied assignment, as it involved capturing the interior and exterior of the building, including all the public spaces and a couple of the bedrooms, as well as taking headshots of the management team and capturing candid images of the residents. St Philips Care are producing a new brochure to promote the care home, and the images will be published in it. It was a privilege to be welcomed into Catalina House for the day and to be trusted to work with some of its most vulnerable residents.
