LVIA & Wind Farm Photography

Wind farm photography - panoramic image of white wind turbines on a wide hill summit with a vivid blue sky overhead

If you’re looking for photography for a wind farm or another development, I’d love to get involved in your project.

I worked in the renewable energy industry for nine years before becoming a professional photographer in 2017. As a project manager, I was responsible for five onshore wind farm projects, ranging in size from seven to 30 megawatts, and I managed consultants, deadlines and budgets. I also provided support on many other sites.

Extensive wind farm photography experience

It’s not that difficult to find a photographer. However, I know that it is a challenge to track down a photographer who understands the guidance, the planning process, and the needs of the client. I understand all of this, and I’m also experienced in undertaking photography, whether for landscape and visual or cultural heritage assessments. Over the years, I’ve captured photographs for several proposed wind farms, mobile phone masts and other developments.

“Karen is great to work with and reliable. Given her background, experience and location, we will use her time and time again and I have no hesitation in recommending her.”

Compliance with industry guidance

I’m sufficiently clued up on the industry guidance produced by Scottish Natural Heritage, Highland Council and the Landscape Institute, and my photographic equipment complies with these standards. I produce my own risk assessments and am fully insured.

Recent commissions

I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the ‘big names’ in this industry, including ASH Design + Assessment, Muirhall Energy, RSK, Stephenson Halliday, The Paul Hogarth Company, and Wood. Drop me a line if you’d like a reference or would like to see example photographs of projects that are in the public domain.

“Karen, thank you for all your hard work on this job. Your flexibility and timely correspondence has made my job much easier. I will certainly come back to you if I have another job in the Highlands that requires photography!”

Flexible and responsive approach

I’m based on the Black Isle near Inverness; an excellent ‘launch pad’ for the Highlands, Islands and Moray. I’m happy to travel further afield, throughout Scotland, and have recently worked on projects in Stirling, Orkney and the Western Isles. Also, I’m comfortable with lone working in remote areas and appreciate the need to be flexible and responsive to suitable weather conditions.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss a project or to request a quote.
