Before becoming a professional photographer, I was employed for nine years in the renewable energy industry, five of which were spent working as a project manager. I was responsible for managing five onshore wind farm projects ranging in size from 7.5MW to 30MW and provided support on numerous other sites. My background is in Geography and Environmental Protection and Management and I hold a First Class Honours MA and an MSc, both from Edinburgh University.
Having managed consultants, deadlines and budgets for several EIAs, I have a solid understanding of the requirements of both developers and landscape consultants, and a sound grasp of what is required in terms of LVIA photography. I am based on the Black Isle near Inverness – an excellent ‘launch pad’ for the Highlands, Islands and Moray – but I am also willing to travel further afield. I am comfortable with lone working in remote areas and appreciate the need to be flexible and responsive to suitable weather conditions.
I have undertaken LVIA photography for several proposed wind farms, mobile phone masts and other developments, and am experienced in complying with industry guidance produced by Scottish Natural Heritage, Highland Council and the Landscape Institute. I use professional quality panoramic photographic equipment to produce 360 degree imagery. I produce my own risk assessments and am fully insured.
