Workshops

Coming soon…

Join me in Scotland’s great outdoors to develop your landscape photography skills. Later this summer I will announce details of my upcoming photography workshops including multi-day excursions on the North Coast 500 route, Scotland’s answer to the USA’s Route 66; multi-day workshops on the magnificent Isle of Harris; weekend trips on the Fife coast; and single day outings on the Black Isle near Inverness. Flexible one-to-one tuition packages will also be available where you choose the dates and the location.

My workshops will be suited to beginners and more experienced photographers alike. I believe that the photographer is more important than the camera and so I will help you to capture better images whether you are using a mobile phone, compact or bridge camera or DSLR. My focus will be on teaching you to perfect your images in-camera and this will involve tutorials, one-to-one tuition in the field, and constructive feedback sessions.

I’ve loved exploring Scotland with a camera in my hand since early childhood and I look forward to sharing my experience and enthusiasm for photography in Scotland’s great outdoors with you.

More details will follow shortly, including itineraries and a list of learning objectives. Please contact me to make an enquiry or note your interest. I will be delighted to hear from you.

North Coast 500 (NC500)

The North Coast 500 (NC500) is one of the top coastal routes in the world and has been described as Scotland’s answer to the USA’s Route 66. This 500 mile route around the North Highlands, starting and finishing in Inverness, is packed with stunningly beautiful locations including beaches, mountains, castles, ruins, small towns and villages. I’ve been exploring these landscapes since childhood, long before the route was designated, and I know these locations well. Join me on a six day workshop and experience some of the best landscapes in Scotland and find the ideal locations to develop your photography.

Isle of Harris

I’m fortunate to have visited around sixty Scottish islands. The Isle of Harris with its stunningly beautiful beaches, spectacular mountains and intimate bays is my favourite, to the extent that my husband and I held our wedding ceremony on the beach at Luskentyre! I have spent a lot of time exploring Harris since my first visit here in 2002 and am excited about running landscape photography workshops on this beautiful island. This five day workshop begins and ends in the Highland capital of Inverness and includes a delightful journey through the Isle of Skye where we will catch the ferry.

The Fife Coast

The 117 mile Fife coastline offers huge potential for landscape photography and is easily accessible from the Central Belt for a weekend excursion. I spent the first 27 years of my life in close proximity to Fife, growing up in Perth followed by living and working in Edinburgh, and know the area well. I walked the entire Fife Coastal Path in September 2014 and acquired an intimate knowledge of the coastline. On these weekend workshops, expect to visit secluded beaches, picturesque fishing villages and interesting geological features, and learn to photograph popular locations from a new perspective.

The Black Isle

The Black Isle is a relatively undiscovered gem just a stone’s throw from the Highland capital of Inverness across the Kessock Bridge. Whether you live in the area or are here on holiday, I will take you to some beautiful locations on this scenic peninsula away from the tourist hot-spots. I’ve lived here since 2013 and have spent the last four years exploring this corner of the Highlands, discovering the coastline, sites of archaeological interest and peaceful woodlands in amongst the seasonal changes of the agricultural landscape. It’s difficult to do justice to the Black Isle in a single day and so you may find yourself wanting to return!
