Oliver’s Travels: Interior and Exterior Photography

Oliver’s Travels markets quirky, lavish, unique exclusive-use properties around the world, from Florida and Morocco to… Alness! In 2021, Oliver’s Travels commissioned me to capture new interior and exterior photographs for three of their Scottish properties, including Dalmore House Baronial Mansion, Alness, to improve on their existing bank of images. It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with my camera in this grand five-bedroom castle. Here are just a few images from this commercial photoshoot. Watch this space, as I’ll be creating a feature post on this property soon.
Isle of Skye Luxury Self-Catering: Interior and Exterior Photography

From the traditional to the ultra-modern! In July 2021, I was commissioned by the owner of a new luxury self-catering holiday let to capture interior and exterior imagery to promote their business. I travelled to Broadford on the Isle of Skye and spent a day photographing this stunning, luxurious property. My aim was to convey the sense of space and natural light in the images. Again, be sure to pop back soon, as I’ll shortly be producing a feature post on this fabulous property.
Cameron Painters & Decorators: Interior and Exterior Photography

In 2020, Dingwall-based Cameron Painters & Decorators commissioned me to capture a few of their projects for their new website.
The first of these was the art deco Inverness High School. Cameron have done a wonderful job of painting the interior and exterior of the school, as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment. It was a pleasure to spent an afternoon at the school, photographing many of the classrooms, corridors and the staff room, in addition to the exterior.
Another of the projects was St Clement’s Parish Church in Dingwall. I captured ‘before’ and ‘after’ imagery and presented this in a video slideshow, to illustrate the extent of the transformation.
Newhall Mains: Exterior Photography

Newhall Mains is an eighteenth century estate building on the north side of the Black Isle (a few miles along the road from my house!). Without compromising the character of the building, Newhall Mains has recently been beautifully restored. The four cottages and coach house offer luxurious, world-class accommodation in private and peaceful surroundings. The other side of the building is now a stunning venue for weddings, other events and private hire. In 2019, Euan and his team commissioned me to undertake architectural photography in a range of lighting conditions. The results have been used on the Newhall Mains website and social media pages.
Assynt House: Interior Photography

Assynt House is a Georgian mansion on the north side of the Cromarty Firth. It boasts seven en suite bedrooms, a beautifully appointed drawing room, study, sitting room, TV lounge, a well-equipped kitchen and six acres of garden. After photographing a wedding at Assynt House in 2018, Elizabeth and Graham invited me back to capture the interior of this magnificent five-star exclusive use venue near Evanton in the Scottish Highlands. It was a pleasure to spend a day in these luxurious and elegant surroundings!
Knockbain Farm: Landscape Photography and Portraiture

In 2018, Richard Lockett at Knockbain Farm commissioned me to capture a portfolio of portrait and landscape images for the family business. Knockbain Farm, located in the hills above Dingwall, is a fantastic example of how agriculture and conservation can go hand-in-hand. Richard and his family have restored wetlands, planted hedges, expanded native woodland and established a community wind turbine, whilst producing high quality food. They welcome visitors to take advantage of their network of paths and tracks, and also provide bed and breakfast accommodation. Spending a day at Knockbain, meeting the Lockett family and photographing all the different habitats and landscapes, was an absolute delight!
Concrete Butterflies Media: Landscape Photography

Back in 2017, I bumped into writer and broadcaster Malcolm Fane whilst photographing a wedding on the Isle of Skye. We got talking, exchanged business cards, and I returned to Skye a few weeks later to work with Malcolm. The remit was to undertake some landscape and portrait photography to promote Malcolm’s business, Concrete Butterflies Media. This image was selected for the website homepage, with the company tag line superimposed on it.
